Gateway Children’s Services:  Ascension is working weekly with the Gateway children on building life skills, which includes the children preparing dinner once a month after the Wednesday Evening service.  There is always an on-going need of the following items for the Gateway Teens: socks, undershirts (large and extra large), twin sheets, towels, pencils, drawing pads, journals. PG-13 movies, games, puzzles, puzzle books, soap, shampoo, lotions, and hair elastics

M&M Food Pantry: They always need food, donations, and substitute workers. They especially need canned fruit, dried beans, Spaghetti O’s, tuna fish, and tuna helper dinners and powdered milk.  Please continue to bring your offerings for the plate and our basket.

ST. BARNABAS (June 11) St. Barnabas accompanied St. Paul on his first missionary journey. He founded the church at Antioch and was martyred in Cyprus.

NATIVITY OF ST. JOHN BAPTIST (June 24) We celebrate the nativity of the Baptist because he was the forerunner of Christ's ministry.

STS. PETER AND PAUL (June 30) This day commemorates the two most influential Apostles.  They represented the conservative and liberal wings of the Church (even then there were conflicts!)

INDEPENDENCE DAY (July 4) This is the day we celebrate our national political independence. It is fitting that we give thanks to God for this.

ST. MARY MAGDALENE (July 22) Jesus healed Mary Magdalene by casting out seven devils.  She was considered to be a wealthy woman, but became one of the women following Him.  She was the one to whom the angel announced the Resurrection; since she then told the disciples, she is referred to as 'the apostle to the Apostles'.

ST. JAMES THE APOSTLE (July 25) This day commemorates St James the Apostle, called James the Greater.  He was the brother of John. He spread the light in Judea and was killed by Herod Agrippa in 44 AD.  His body was later taken to Spain.
